Reviews
Real e-bike reviews, scored the same way every time.
We review the whole purchase, not just the bike: the brand you’re trusting, the model you’d ride, the online store you’d buy from, and the local shop you’d walk into. Each one is a hands-on review by the editor who owns that beat, set beside other real reviews and a single consistent score — kept completely separate from the market index, where the numbers are computed.
What we review
Four things worth getting right before you buy.
Brand reviews
Brand ScoreIs a maker worth trusting — build quality, warranty, support, and how its fleet actually holds up, measured against every other brand on the index.

Ride ScoreA specific machine, ridden and measured — motor, range against the claim, brakes, ride feel and who it is for. Only models we have actually reviewed appear here.

Store ScoreBuying online, judged honestly — shipping, returns, warranty handling, support and real customer experience, next to the store’s live pricing on the index.

Honest, hands-on, and comparable.
Real, never fabricated
Every review is a first-hand assessment by the desk that owns the beat — a machine we rode, a store we bought from, a shop we visited. We never generate a review from the catalog and never invent a test that didn’t happen.
We aggregate other real reviews
Alongside our own verdict we gather genuine third-party reviews — owners, forums, other outlets — and show where the consensus agrees with us and where it doesn’t. Sourced and linked, never scraped into a fake average.
One consistent score
Every review carries the same 0–100 Press Score, built from a fixed rubric per category, so a reader can compare like with like instead of trusting one writer’s mood. The rubric is rolling out now.
Independent of the index
A review’s opinion never moves a Value Score, and no score buys a good review. Some links may be affiliate and are tagged rel="sponsored"; that never changes a verdict.
Reviews are written by our editors — each owns a beat and signs the verdict. The market index that sits beside every review is built by a separate data desk; the methodology is the full recipe for those numbers.
Rolling out
The first reviews are being written now.
We’re building the scoring rubric and publishing the first hands-on reviews desk by desk. Until a category has real, scored reviews, its page says so plainly rather than filling space — no thin pages, no placeholder star ratings. Follow the Journal for what lands first.
