What the statute actually says

New Brunswick has no standalone e-bike statute; the Registrar treats a unit as an ordinary bicycle - no licence, registration or insurance - only if it can be powered by human force, has a motor of 500 W or less, and cannot assist above 32 km/h. Anything exceeding those limits is an electric motor-driven cycle that must be registered as a Limited Speed Motorcycle or Scooter. All bicycle riders must wear a fastened helmet under the Motor Vehicle Act, and the Act sets no minimum operating age for bicycles.
